John L. Smallwood, CFP®, is the President and Senior Wealth Advisor of Smallwood Wealth Management. His 35+ years in the financial industry have earned him the distinction as an entrepreneur, a lecturer, and a thought leader dedicated to consistently facilitating his clients’ financial confidence. Utilizing the Wealth Curve Blueprint, he provides investment consulting services and financial planning solutions designed to mitigate his clients’ financial risk, decrease tax liability, and enable long-term wealth growth and legacy. John and his team believe in a holistic approach to investment, one that considers every facet of his client’s lifestyle, leading to an agile strategy that evolves with the continually changing economic environment and his clients’ dynamic needs and goals.

In addition to his work at Smallwood Wealth Management, John is also a prolific author and innovator in the financial sector. He actively seeks to empower his current and future clients with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed financially.

 

John lives in Red Bank, NJ, with his wife, Sharon. Together, they raised four children—Jack, Jared, Christopher, and Eve. Today, Jack, Jared, and Christopher have followed in their father’s footsteps, joining Smallwood Wealth Management to help carry on the firm’s mission of financial stewardship. When he’s not working with clients or growing the business, John enjoys boating, fishing, skiing, and running local 5K races.

The reference to “2025 NJ BIZ Leader In Finance” pertains to John Smallwood’s inclusion on the NJBiz Leaders in Finance list for 2025. NJBiz is New Jersey’s primary business journal and publishes an annual “Leaders” recognition in multiple industries for New Jersey businesses and professionals.
